About this deal

Jacqueline is also a great reader, and has amassed over 20,000 books, along with her famous collection of silver rings. Phase one of the plan is an immediate success, as Richard is made redundant because of the ridiculous clothing Rose bought him, which no doubt alerted the rest of the office loud and clear that this man was going through a mid-life crisis. Now that Richard is unemployed, she's able to plant the idea of the bookshop into his head, thus leading to phase two - prising him away from the clutches of his mother-in-law. She then isolates him in the countryside. Not only that, but as they both live and work at the shop together, she can keep an eye on him all day.

In its British form, the two actors would usually be composed of a "straight man" or "feed" and a "comic", the purpose of the feed is to set up jokes for the comic. This would rely heavily on comic timing. It’s the building on these traditions which makes double-acts in children’s graphic novels work for a different audience. Notably a younger one, which is arguably more accepting of difference and has a more modern outlook. Bumble and Snug also does this with gender too. Bumble (she) and Snug (he). More often than not, comedy duos are the same gender. In recent years there has been James Corden/Ruth Jones, and even more recently Daisy May Cooper/Charlie Cooper. But here we have creators/writers/actors of sitcoms. Not quite the same as performers like Morecambe and Wise, French and Saunders, or Mitchell and Webb… Adult audiences might “expect” the rules, but children have no concept of them, and maybe we have a responsibility to make sure they never do… Could the children think of two of their own characters and write a story with each person taking a turn to narrate? Could they work with a friend and write a story with each child telling a part of the story? a b c d e f g h i Enrico Lancia, Roberto Poppi. Dizionario del cinema italiano: Gli artisti. Gli attori dal 1930 ai giorni nostri. Gremese Editore, 2003. ISBN 8884402697. THREE I hate changes. I want every day to be the same. I've always been like it, even before Mum died. I couldn't stand our first day at school. Everybody stared at us because we were different. And the whole day was different. We couldn't play our own games and talk in our 31Of course we want to be actresses. Honestly, Garnet, give over jogging me. (She can be a bit stupid and shy at times. She doesn’t think we’ll ever make it as flashy film stars, but I keep telling her all we need is CONFIDENCE. She keeps going on at me now, saying she doesn’t want to be a star. Well, that’s mad. She can’t mean it. Who on earth wouldn’t want to show off all day in front of the camera and go to posh parties every night with all the other stars?) I am a big Jacqueline Wilson fan and as a child read her books continuously, over and over again. Double Act is about 2 twins and there mum died when they where little and they live with their dad and Nan. But one day her dad comes home saying he has met this lady called Rose. The twins Ruby and Garnet hate her the first time she sees her, which is when their dad brings her home to have tea, out off the blue and their Nan tried her best to be nice to Rose. Then her dad suddenly announced that they where moving to the country with ROSE, and that there Nan is going to be put in a home. Ruby and Garnet hate the idea, that means that they will have to change schools and they will have to live with Rose. They start a new school and hate it. But one day they see on the notice board a poster about a modelling thing so they go there on a Saturday, but there dad find's out and Garnet get sent to a boarding school and Ruby doesn't ... But finally, Rose is rewarded for her patience. And it is the girls themselves who rescue her plans from the abyss. Hoist by their twin petards! Not because they are telling jokes as such but situations, off-hand comments, and misunderstandings. All classic components of comedy. I also think both are retired; there’s a weight off their shoulders where they can enjoy their time and each other. But, a double-act they are, whether they like it or not. Not that anyone apart from myself and my sister would find them as funny. You may even be similar to them. Especially if you choose to get a blood test at a hospital further away to “make a day of it.” And yes, they did ask me if I wanted to go with them. And yes, I am! By the way, I’m writing this on Valentine’s Day while wiping the tears on my corduroys. As well as winning many awards for her books, including the Children’s Book of the Year, Jacqueline is a former Children’s Laureate, and in 2008 she was appointed a Dame.

Another double act that emerged in the mid to late 1990s was Lee & Herring, who combined a classic clash of personalities (downbeat and rational Lee contrasting with energetic, childish Herring) with very ironic, often satirical humour. Gran keeps moaning that the floorboards won’t stand up to all that weight. They do tend to creak a bit. Dad gets fussed then and agrees it’s ridicul a b c d e f g h i j k Aldo Grasso, Massimo Scaglioni, Enciclopedia della Televisione, Garzanti, Milano, 1996 – 2003. ISBN 881150466X. I haven’t told. I’ve written. And this accounts book is secret. Just for us. We can write everything down in it. All our secrets. We’re going to be famous too someday, you bet. So I’ve started writing our life-story already. It’s funny, Garnet is usually the one who writes stuff. Her writing’s neater than mine. So often I get her to do my schoolwork. She doesn’t mind.

Marigold’s eyes were emerald. The deepest glittery green, the green of summer meadows and seaweed and secret pools. Sometimes Marigold’s eyes glittered so wildly it was as if they were spinning in her head like Catherine wheels, giving off sparks. This book is about two young twins Ruby (the lively confident one) and Garnet ( the shy quiet one). It appears that ruby is the twin that makes all the decisions and it is Garnet that follows her lead. Whilst the the two were young their mother died which resulted in them and their dad moving in with their gran. Which one of us? It ought really to be me, seeing as I’m the eldest. But I’ll let you borrow it sometimes. If you’re careful. down properly to keep them safe. I like making up plays and I don't mind acting them out when it's just Ruby and me and we're totally private and imagining it so it could almost be actually happening, but I can't bear proper acting. Ruby and I were twin sheep in the nativity play when we were still in the Infants and it was one of the most truly awful experiences of my life. Not the most awful, of course. That was when Look, you're not writing any of that sad stuff, I won't let you. This is me again. Ruby. Garnet's just gone off, all humpy because I happened to scratch her a tiny little bit when I snatched the pen. I asked her nicely first. And it's my turn now. You have to be able to take turns fairly when you're twins. That stuff she wrote is daft anyway. What's the point of writing plays down in books? You should play plays. And she's got to be an actress because that's what we've always wanted to be, and while we're still trying to get famous we can do adverts and game shows on the telly. Identical twins are a Mega-Novelty. Garnet can't reject Fame just because of 13
