About this deal

Bought a gale pump earlier this year, only used it a couple of times and all is ok, tend to stand it on one of our awning tiles as that does quieten it down a bit, also as Vango thought it was a great idea to put the valves on the inside of the awning that also helps to eliminate some of the noise! Connecting the hose to the inflation point first then attempting to connect hose-to-pump sometimes I think it would be easier to rotate the entire awning! Having tried to inflate a caravan tyre with a high pressure pump which blew the 10A aux fuse in the caravan I am now a little wary (although I do notice that most appear use the car socket which seems less convenient). Yeah, I was really impressed at the way the pump performed, even after my tinkering with the fitting. I think the fact that Kampa discontinued the Breeze and replaced it with a totally different one tells you they accepted the poor performance of the Breeze.

I believe this pump has now been around for about 12 months and am looking for any feedback on its use (speed, reliability, etc) Had the Kampa Breeze which packed up after 13 months and 3 x use. If you give the guy ropes a tug to ease out any kinks in the tubes then the two stage pumps will stay on low pressure high volume setting which will speed up the inflation, I think the Kampa Breeze was a two stage pump. The Kampa Gale pump is not a two stage pump therefore no high/low pressure, The downfall of the two stage pumps are when they meet any constriction in the air beams they they go into high pressure low volume setting which means it takes a lot longer to inflate the awning. With a range of power options and sizes, from portable manual pumps to heavy-duty electric pumps, these air pumps are the perfect addition to your camping, hiking, and outdoor gear collection. However, on our last trip to the Isle of Wight in April I used a Sevylor electric pump and was amazed at how quickly it inflated the awning, around 3 minutes!

Ref the screw adaptor at the inflation end of the hose ~~~ sure it is a brilliant concept but a better system would be to have the same union at the pump-end (two floating unions). Simply plug into a 12V power source using the extra long cable, set the required PSI and let the pump take care of the rest. We have the 400 and it's up very quickly with the Breeze apart from 2 occasions now when I haven't closed a tap properly. The material used in the Airvolution range is mush thicker than that used by Kampa (closer to Dorema weight) and the design features were very well thought out. If we were older or had mobility problems we would plug it in and go and make some tea ( we were told that when we purchased it) but I'm impatient and can't wait!

I use an electric pump, the Kampa yellow one, to blow up our air ace 400, takes less than 2 minutes. I have just purchased a rechargeable battery (no cables, so no distance restriction) inflater as we have inflation tow behind toys for the jetski and I very impressed with it so will try it on the air awning and may use this.
