Meaco has made the Arete One easy to use. Via the control panel on the front, you can set the target relative humidity, between 40% and 70%. I’d aim for 50% in most cases, although a higher setting, such as 60%, can help reduce running costs. When running, it shows the current humidity level. Plus, when running the dehumidifier in the kitchen, I found that it got rid of odours from cooking. I had the MeacoDry Arete One running whilst I worked and watched TV and it didn’t bother me at all. The official stats say it runs at just 35dB, and it certainly felt very quiet in practice. You can wheel the Arete One around but it also has a concealed carry handle so you can get it up the stairs if you need to. The 25 litre model measures 60cm x 35cm x 25 cm.

So there’s no absolute cost to running a dehumidifier. But here’s something that might help. It’s a question from a happy customer! ‘What is the cost of running a dehumidifier?’ It’s a sizable unit, standing 56cm tall, and heavy with it, at 15Kg without any water in the tank. However, there are casters on the base to help move it around, while a central section of the top lifts up to function as a handle, so you can (just about) heft it up and down the stairs if you need to. The only downsides for me are that there is no timer, and this dehumidifier doesn't have any Wi-Fi compatibility, which is a bit of a shame because I’d love to have been able to operate it remotely via an App. But, considering this dehumidifier does such a stellar job, these few points are very easy to overlook.
