About this deal

This is an over-ear design iem instead of bullet from Tanya and E500. Very light weight plastic that comes with 2 pin extruded style. With its forward, fast and impactful bass coupled with natural sounding vocals, the KB EAR KS2 got me listening to Rap and RnB more while I was reviewing it than I did this entire year thus far. I really enjoyed these genres on the KS2. If you're looking for an earphone that plays well with RnB and Rap, or just want something for bass and vocals, try the KB EAR KS2, you won't be disappointed! The treble is also enhanced by the wide sense of space which the tuning of the KS1 gives one. The presentation being analogue type harmonic tuning, gives you the sense of being surrounded by the music, quite expansive and enveloping.

Have you ever been in a candle store? You lift up the lid to a jar, give the waxy glob a big whiff and then move on to the next. Between smells, it gets hard to determine if you really like a smell, or if it is just a reflection of the last jar. The KBEAR KS1 shell is made of plastic. I got the white version, which really looks like some Stormtrooper armour. It is very light and comfortable and well fitting. No complaints from me on this aspect. This model form Kbear doesn’t get the attention it deserve, as they are quite competent for a super budget hybrid.Disclaimer: I received this pair directly from KB Ear’s Ali store in exchange for posting a review. Thanks to @WendyLi at KB Ear for the offer. I consider this to be a mini review for my own sanity. I burned these in for ~150+ hours before listening for the purposes of this review.

I highly recommend this pair to those starting out. It is a great pair to see where your preferences lie. For less than the price of most cables on the market you can get a taste of a great Soundstage. Translucent Resin Cavity Stylish Design】The cabinet cavity of KBEAR KS2 is made of imported high-density PC material which can well suppress the diffuse reflection of sound waves inside the cavity. Through the optimization of the internal cavity acoustic structure, the overall sound is more warm and charming, and the soft and mellow audio performance is reproduced as the real picture. Translucent resin material, bright streamer, full of beauty and technology! I'm very satisfied with the KS2. They are one of my most-used pair of earphones in my collection, and they should definitely be part of your collection too, as they are among the champions within their price range. Can't wait to see what KBEAR has in mind for us next! Imaging is pretty OK, a bit blurry due to the bass but I can definitely feel some movement of various musical elements. The IEMs nozzle is long and wide as well and KBEAR states this extends the life of the IEM. I don’t see how a long or short canal can influence that, but ok. The KBEAR KS2 does feature an aluminum alloy nozzle, which is a nice touch at this price. I’m not so sure that this is making the mid-bass clean and smooth, as they say. Timbre – nothing offensive sounding. I would even say it’s organic, as the presentation sounds very raw, like you’re listening to the song live. I think this is where these IEMs shine. The KS2s have a pretty good bass response, especially in the sub-bass. The mid-bass is also pretty impactful but occasionally gets a little messy.

The face Despite me not being a big fan of the build quality of the earphones, I find them really comfortable to wear even for long hours. Due to how lightweight it is, the earphones feel like they are never in your ears and that is really good. On top of that, the lightweight cable never feels like it is tugging on the earphones, adding on to the comfort of the earphones. According to KBEAR, the cabinet cavity of the KBEAR KS2 is made of an imported high-density PC material which can suppress the diffuse reflection of sound waves inside the cavity. Through the optimization of the internal cavity acoustic structure, the overall sound is more warm and charming, and the soft and mellow audio performance is reproduced as the real picture. Translucent resin material, bright streamer, full of beauty and technology! Soundstage is quite wide, however the slightly confused trebles makes the expression of the stage with some reverb and without a good instrumental separation. I still believe it’s pleasant to listen to. Separation is good, with well-defined spatial positions, but the cramped soundstage prevents it on getting its full potential.

Staging on KS1 is fine, nothing bad or good. Kind of average. E500 has width but no height. Meanwhile, Tanya has height but not really width. One advantage that KS1 has is the layering. Even with a bass heavy tuning, it is considerably good for the asking price. The bassis solid without being bossy or boomy. Nicely detailed and present at the right level, there is a contented amount and presence in the lower regions. It does not offend me, and only covers the lower mids a bit from my “expert” listening. KBEAR started their journey off on the wrong foot. From the horrible Opal (which I couldn't be bothered to review, as it should be erased from history) to the very restrictive F1, it seemed that KBEAR won't make it too far before vanishing from existance in the crowded earphones market. Soundstage, Imaging and Separation: The soundstaging is a bit below average, feels like a tight space.

In terms of technicalities, both are below average compared to other similarly priced CHIFI. These 2 sets are very close in technicalities, I think the KBEAR KS1 is just a bit better in the instrument separation and details departments. Soundstage and imaging is a bit better on the BLON BL-03. I’ll admit—V-shaped headphones are probably my favorite. I enjoy elevated bass and detailed treble; those things make listening fun. There’s certainly a time and place for hearing things as the producer intended, but when you’re buying any headphone with a sound profile like the KS2, you know that you’re not going to be getting that. The KBEAR KS1 has a v-shaped signature that is slightly on the warmer side of neutral. Dynamic drivers generally tend to sound cohesive and that’s certainly the case here. KS1 has an organic tone with moderate clarity, a boosted bass and smooth highs. Bass In Mike Oldfield's "Tubular World" from "The Songs of Distant Earth", the bass reached down to the nether regions with excellent weight in the synth bass with the rhythmic integrity maintained well. The texture of the bass guitar was very well rendered. There was some dominance over the other frequencies, but this suited the piece, with the KS1 delivering an entertaining and foot-tapping performance.

These 2 sets of tips are the same tips. The bottom half is inverted and the mod I highly recommend you trying out. This simple mod will surprise you. My largest issue with the cable is its disposition to tangle, which would happen quite often when unraveling it. If you’re the type of person to secure their cables with hook-and-loop connectors, then I would suspect this wouldn’t be an issue for you, but the wound-round-the-finger types may get quite disgruntled. Vocals are decent but sometimes sound a little far away. Overall, the mids are maybe a little recessed and give way to boosted bass and trouble. For most of the music I listen to (pop, hip hop, rap), this was fine, but some listeners may not like this.
