But my absolute fave had a POV. Cassandra is my favourite character from Greek myth so I loved reading her view. a b Lyn, Euros (director); Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Douglas Petrie (writer) (March 18, 2016). "The Dark at the End of the Tunnel". Daredevil. Season 2. Episode 12. Netflix. I'm usually VERY careful and suspicious about retellings and "feminist takes". The reason is that what is called feminism nowadays, to me, is revenge porn. Every man's an enemy. URGH.

Helen raised an eyebrow. “And let him grow up like they did? Nurturing the same dreams that they did? Agamemnon won’t want to risk it.” Well its Greek mythology and for me that brings its own air of mystery, intrigue and tragedy. A sub-genre I will never tire off. When she escaped from her cell, Elektra was considered an Omega Level threat to the Helicarrier by H.A.M.M.E.R. agent Commander Brothers. [48] Master of Stealth: Due to her training as a ninja assassin, she can blend in with the shadows and remain undetected by most humans. [84] I knew that much of the story. Menelaus and Agamemnon were sons of Atreus, whose brother, Thyestes, had murdered him for the throne and cast them out. I suppose he had just enough mercy not to want the blood of children on his hands. That was the crime for which their family had been cursed by the gods generations before: the crime of Tantalus. When Theseus, Prince of Athens, arrives in Crete as a sacrifice to the beast, Ariadne falls in love with him. But helping Theseus kill the monster means betraying her family and country, and Ariadne knows only too well that in a world ruled by mercurial gods - drawing their attention can cost you everything. I thought of Menelaus, the adoration in his eyes when he looked at Helen. I wondered if she was right, if he’d be able to see things the way our father had done. If winning the contest in our halls really would be victory enough, whatever might happen later. Telepathic Immunity: Elektra has demonstrated an ability to remain hidden and undetected by other telepaths. By using a telepathic technique that she learned during her time with the Hand, Elektra can create a mental shield around her mind keeping herself hidden from not only other psychics but mind locating machines like Cerebro. [79] So, Menelaus would get the prize of Helen and Agamemnon would have the city. No doubt that seemed a fair bargain to them both. There couldn't be a better opening sentence for me, I was instantly hooked and couldn't put the book down.

Each character was written with the utmost care, particularly the three main woman, in such a way that I was able to discern one's emotions and actions from one another early on in the story. This is something I find particularly important in books including multiple viewpoints; I could tell one woman from another, and I wanted to hear every perspective in turn. None of the women's stories were a disappointment, and therefore, none of the chapters became boring. Admittedly, I didn't particularly like Elektra, as a person, but her story was just as interesting to me as the others'. An extremely compelling novel, particularly if you haven’t read much Greek mythology. However, I wanted a bit more drama and atmosphere to come through in the writing. Other than that, the positives do outweigh the less good parts and at 3.5 stars I am rounding up. Per quanto riguarda le innacuratezze presente nel racconto, non pensavo di trovarne tante, dal momento che l'autrice è una professoressa. Sono rimasta stupita dal leggere tante castronerie: As the devil, she protected Hell's Kitchen against multiple threats, including Knull's invasion, [74] and the Bullseye clones. [75] Once Matt was freed from prison, the two reunited and began protecting the city as Daredevil together. [76] In 2020, CBR.com ranked Elektra 1st in their "10 Deadliest Female Assassins Of The Marvel Universe" list. Elektra Saga #1–4 (Marvel Comics, 1984) (reprints of material from Daredevil #168, 174-177, 181-182, 187-190 and Bizarre Adventures #28) Elektra can communicate telepathically with individuals possessing similar levels of mental discipline, such as the Chaste. She mastered this ability during training with The Hand, which mentally links her to The Beast, the demigod of The Hand. She is able to shield her mind from others. [56] Elektra has the ability to mesmerize others, and as such make them see illusions or other phenomena. [54]

Cassandra, daughter of King Priam of Troy and Hecabe , blessed with prophetic vision that nobody believes, her warnings and pleas fall on deaf ears as Troy falls. In 2022, CBR.com ranked Elektra 1st in their "15 Best Daredevil Love Interests" list, [63] 7th in their "Marvel: 10 Best Reformed Villains" list, [64] 8th in their "Marvel's 10 Best Infiltrators" list, [65] and 10th in their "10 Most Violent Marvel Heroes" list. [66] As part of the 2012 Marvel NOW! branding, Elektra becomes a member of Red Hulk's Thunderbolts. [46] [47] Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. [ edit ]Elektra appears in the Marvel Comics Super Heroes collection of commemorative postage-stamps. [112] I cannot hope for the future, for I know what it is to become.Whenever I'm in a reading slump and I need something to shake me out of my funk, Greek mythology is what I reach for. The tales of passion and tragedy, war and loss, glory and triumph always hit the right spot for me. So I'm a bit flummoxed that Elektra didn't turn out to be the reading experience I was hoping for. When nine-year-old Elektra was assaulted by kidnappers, the men were all killed by Orestez, who had grown into an accomplished martial artist after leaving home. Orestez advised his father that Elektra needed to learn self-defense. Hugo hired a sensei to teach her the martial arts. [ citation needed]

Elektra Natchios was born on a Greek island near the Aegean Sea to Hugo Kostas Natchios and his wife Christina Natchios. [17] Elektra's mother was gunned down while vacationing on a yacht. After her mother's death, Elektra grew up close to her father but was plagued by visions and voices with no known source. She reacted to them through self-harm. Her father eventually sent her away for psychotherapy. As she grew up, her father insisted that she train in martial arts. [18] Baker-Whitelaw, Gavia (2017-09-21).
