About this deal

STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) is great, but some children are naturally more artistically creative, so the new acronym in town is STEAM, which adds the Arts to the educational mix. Perfect fit:We have specially designed the case to suit your Educational Insights Artie 3000 the Coding & Drawing Robot! It comes with over 20 lessons supporting computer science education. For teachers, the Wi-Fi module allows multiple robots to be connected to do tasks together, thus simplifying teaching by simultaneously sharing the same programming. A bluetooth module that includes autopilot control connects to your phone so you can experience the sensation of flying paper, foam or Balsa Wood airplane models.

Looking for a calming, screen-free activity for the kids? These tactile toys will focus attention and soothe the senses. With Mindful Maze boards from Hand2mind, little ones can use their fingers to move through various patterns—including waves, rainbows, and stars—as they pace their breathing to each task. Dimpl Pops, by Fat Brain Toys, offer a different sensory satisfaction. The irresistible pop of colorful silicone bubbles makes exercising fine motor skills as fun as it is relaxing. (Mindful Maze, ages Pre-K to 8; Dimpl Pops, ages 3+) Powered by Biboard, Bittle X features a customised ESP32 board with larger programming space and faster CPU, resulting in better performance. It also comes in a different color to the standard Bittle. Inspired by the Logo programming language, the game lets kids write programs with playing cards. Players dictate the movements of their Robot Turtle tokens on a game board by playing basic Code Cards: Forward, Left and Right. When a player’s Robot Turtle reaches a jewel they win. If they make a mistake, they can use a Bug Card to undo a move. We spent ages trying in vain to get Artie 3000 to connect with my MacBook Pro. In the end, we resorted to Syd’s Windows laptop, which worked first time. I guess Artie isn’t a fan of fruity gadgets! Once he was connected, Syd and I set to work on the first of the 3 lessons included with Artie3000. As the video shows, you can choose to select the pre-installed commands, or do the actual coding yourself. We did the pre-installed command first, then Syd and I tried our hand at coding. On the surface it might look like a standard RC car, complete with mechanum wheels and six 100w brushless motors, but there’s much more to it than that. There’s a creative focus, and that starts when you open the box and find the S1 in 107 pieces ready for you to build. Candy Claw Machine, from Thames & Kosmos, puts an educational spin on the classic arcade game. This do-it-yourself kit lets kids build and engineer their own claw machine, using gears, cranks, belts, and levers. Then they can add their favorite treats—a supply of lollipops and decoy candy boxes is included—and practice reaching for prizes. The set also comes with three interchangeable claw types that kids can use to scoop and score. A real robot also offers some neat science lessons along the way. For example, Dash doesn’t actually turn his wheels, he just spins one faster than the other. Your child can set the speeds for each wheel individually, getting them to understand the physics behind this through play and experimentation. The instructions are well laid out, and with patience you will find it easy to assemble. Don’t rush, though. Building it will teach you a lot about electronics.

Code with Artie Max Setup - Educational Insights

The robot dog has Sound, Touch and Proximity sensors, speaker, wagging tail, LEDs, and programmable expressions. Coding aside, the S1 provides access to a range of games–some multiplayer, with more coming soon–allowing you to go head-to-head with other S1 units. This can be used as a way to show off your newly coded skills to avoid incoming gunfire and get the upper hand on your opponent, or just a way to blow off steam when you’ve had enough of coding for the day. Building on the enormous success of Botley The Coding Robot in 2018, Learning Resources have introduced Artie 3000™ in 2019. Artie™ is the new coding and drawing robot that puts children in control. This is a game that grows with the child as they become more attuned to these coding basics, hence the wide age range. The RoboMaster S1 is the first robot of its kind from DJI, and while it might not fly like the majority of DJI products, it’s an engaging robot that helps kids learn to code–as well as being amazingly fun to play with. This Build, Code and Play Toy includes 847 Lego pieces that kids can build and rebuild into five cool multifunctional models—motorized robots, models and creations with distance, color and tilt sensor technologies. Coding meets creativity! You code it, Artie draws it; From simple drag and drop programs to complex coded creations, Artie Max draws your code in color, on paper, using three interchangeable, onboard markers, smart sensors, line detection, and more This board game, for two to four players, is inspired by Learning Resources’ Code & Go Robot Mouse (see above) and aims through tactile touch to teach kids coding basics without the need for a screen, app or batteries.

Most interesting for our purpose is theCode Lab feature, which lets you string together a series of movements, actions, and animations to code Cozmo’s behavior. Control is performed through a series of five apps for iOS or Android. All of the apps include tutorials to help your children (and you) learn how to build increasingly complex programs, before setting you free to code away. The STEM part comes in with various wing configurations that help you learn about the aerodynamic forces—lift, drag, thrust and gravity—that make flight possible. It contains 24 kinds of module parts, including auto go, obstacle avoidance (via an ultrasonic sensor) and a line-tracing module (via infrared photoelectric sensor).

Made of aluminum, it features intelligent functions such as voice control (for example, “Move forward”, “Dance”) and smart camera, with built-in ultrasonic sensor, obstacle sensors, buzzer sensor module, and receiver. Open-Ended Creativity: Unlike many other coding robots, Artie 3000 doesn't limit creativity to predefined activities. With Artie, you can code it to draw anything you can imagine! From geometric shapes to personalized artwork, Artie 3000 lets you express your creativity. One of our favorite and innovative kids’ games for the iPad and now Fire tablet is Osmo, which uses a fun Montessori-like method to teach via physical objects—not normally what you’d expect from an tablet game. The game has Beginner to Advanced levels–as the players advance they encounter obstacles such as Ice Walls, and use more complex Code Cards (like lasers to melt the walls). PERFECT FOR CODING AT HOME OR IN THE CLASSROOM: Perfect for kids who enjoy art, computers, and coding— Artie makes a great activity for classes, computer clubs, STEM learning centers, and more
