About this deal

The Vanquish series do win over here however with their pioneering multi frequency technology over the single frequency Simplex +. Nokta Makro Simplex + Final Thoughts Nokta Simplex The Nokta Makro Simplex plus is a mid to high range specification single frequency coin and treasure seeking metal detector that was launched after the Minelab Equinox 600 and 800. The control box is simple yet convenient and user-friendly. There are six buttons to turn the device on and off, and tune the settings. The discrimination scale is provided in the upper part, below you can see the Search Modes icons. Next there are VDI target identification numbers, the sensitivity scale is on the right, the depth scale is on the left. Below, there is a battery life indicator. Settings Review

Ground balance. You either press the pinpoint button to set it automatically, or do it manually using the arrow buttons Although it’s difficult to assess across different machines, larger coils typically provide a greater ability to see targets which lie deeper in the ground. For example, the Vanquish metal detector comes with 3 different coil options, V8 (8”), V10 (10”) and the V12 (12”) if you fitted the V12, you could find targets at a greater depth, whereas the V8 would see at ashallower depth, but most likely in greater detail, as the same amount of energy flows through the coil regardless of which size you have fitted. Some detectorists love large coils to help them find the deepest of targets and some prefer smaller, for better target separation and to be more precise at the shallower depths. So yeah, already due to its well-designed structure Nokta Simplex made a splash before it was even released, and now it takes the market by storm. What are the Most Important Features to Pay Attention To? Being launched after the Minelab Equinox range, it is obvious that Nokta did some homework and emulated aspects of the Equinox, at least the user interface on their LCD screen. There is no dispute with me that the Nokta Makro Simplex + is a very capable machine which has demonstrated some extroadinary feats finding targets that many other machines wouldn’t have. The Ultra model includes low latency Bluetooth wireless audio, allowing you to connect to the Bluetooth headphones of your choice, SIMPLY UNRIVALLED THE FIRST WATERPROOF DETECTOR ON THE MARKET OFFERING EXTREME DEPTH AND HIGH-END FEATURES AT AN ENTRY-LEVEL PRICE! SIMPLE ENOUGH FOR BEGINNERS, YET IMPRESSIVE ENOUGH FOR EXPERTS! The main frequency – 12 kHz– is an unusual one, because it provides a delicate balance on the brink of most popular frequencies, allowing the user to search for a wider range of metals. Most budget-friendly detectors have either lower frequencies than that.

In our opinion, the Simplex is yesterday’s waterproof detector, but the X-TERRA PRO is the waterproof detector of today, and for the foreseeable future. I have a useful article on metal detector settings and what they do here. The Nokta Makro Simplex also benefits from in-built rechargeable batteries that are charged via a USB cable. The other winner is that the Simplex + has in built wireless technology which the Vanquish 340 and 440 don’t have. This is not available until you get to the Vanquish 540 so you have to use wired headphones. The Nokta SIMPLEX New Generation series boasts all new aesthetics, enhanced technical performance, fully waterproof up to 5 m (16 ft) and all at an impressive reduced weight of 1.2kg (2.6lbs). The first waterproof metal detector on the market offering extreme depth and high-end features at an entry-level price! The pre-set search modes are easily chosen from a single menu interface, to search beach, field, park 1 and Park 2 or All Metal. Recovery speed is very fast giving remarkable target unmasking capabilities. If any of the terms I’ve used so far are alien, you can further read my article Best Metal Detector for Beginners.

We are proud to offer our first entry-level detector, the SIMPLEX+, which makes quality metal detecting available and affordable for all users.

Important!

The Nokta Simplex + is also fully waterproof up to 3m deep and is therefore fully protected from water, mud or dust ingress into it’s most sensitive and important inner workings. Many standard features are present like notch discrimination and “frequency shifting” which allows you detect close to another user and not suffer from electromagnetic interference. However, the detectors do look quite different. The Simplex is a little more dated in terms of styling and design than the X-TERRA PRO, which is to be expected with approximately 4 years between their release. The X-TERRA PRO almost looks like a hybrid of other Minelab detectors, borrowing elements of the shaft and coil design from the Vanquish range and the control box style from the Equinox detectors. It looks really modern, but one thing that may be either a clincher or a deal breaker for some is the colour. The X-TERRA PRO almost a military, camouflaged green colour which we like, but some might not.

Vibration mode setting. You can turn vibration on and off for certain targets, or it can also be useful when you search in a quiet place. Or underwater as well. It still however is a single frequency machine. Currently, multi frequency technology is the talk of the town. A great way to familiarise yourself with all of the Nokta Makro Simplex + features is to take a look through the user manual. It also makes beach detecting possible on salty wet sand which due to shortcomings in technology, single frequency machines have always struggled with.

Software Update

SIMPLEX+ will vibrate upon detection of target! Ideal for the hearing impaired users as well as for detection underwater. The X-TERRA PRO is a cutting-edge metal detector at an unbelievably low price. It borrows features from it’s higher-spec Minelab relatives. Minelab have once again flexed their technical prowess and delivered an affordable, high-performance machine. The X-TERRA PRO wins on waterproof rating, frequency option, target id’s, warranty, looks, coil size, and search modes. The Simplex Ultra from Nokta is top of the new generation of Simplex metal detectors with professional features at an entry level price. SIMPLEX+ is a turn-on & go detector with auto ground balancing! It boasts preset search modes, including a beach mode, in a very easy-to-use, single-menu design.
