Real Housewives Of Potomac' Star Ashley Darby Isn't Mad That Sonja Morgan Stole Her Owen Wilson Thunder At BravoCon: She Knew "His Fetishes" The most watched TV and movies of the week: 'The Rings of Power' rules them all". Mashable. September 9, 2022. Archived from the original on October 2, 2022 . Retrieved October 4, 2022. Wow, thank you to HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction and Netgalley for the invitation to read The Patient. What a treat.

I've been a bit hesitant about writing this review since the majority of readers really enjoyed this debut. However since Goodreads allows us to express and respect our different opinions I don't see any harm in being honest. I didn't hate The Silent Patient but I did find this novel both ridiculous and incompetent. Did Alicia kill her husband, as all the evidence suggests? If so, what was her motive? Why hasn’t she uttered a single word in all these years? This is a compelling mystery. Alicia an enigma, to be sure. This is unsettling enough on its own merits. Her white dress glowed ghostlike in the torchlight” ~ “I remember so much white everywhere: […] the white of her eyes, her teeth, her skin. I’d never known that skin could be so luminous, so translucent ; ivory white with occasional blue veins visible just beneath the surface, like threads of color in white marble. She was a statue.” ~ “strands of long red hair falling across bony shoulders, blue veins beneath the translucent skin”.But it’s not “all killer” in the ways you may imagine. As established early on, Sam is a serial murderer who kidnaps Alan, chains him up in the basement of his home, and insists that Alan cure him of his desire to take the lives of people he deems offensive. Minor spoiler alert: Yes, we see Sam engage in some rather violent behavior. But The Patient is not a “murder show.” It does not fixate on the grisly nature of Sam’s crimes or a police investigation into those crimes or, refreshingly, any sexual compulsions that may be driving Sam’s tendencies. Creators Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, who gave us the masterpiece that was The Americans, steer all the way around serial-killer tropes to create a limited series that offers surprising twists and thoughtful nuance in equal measure. One thing I did really appreciate was that, for me, this book encapsulates perfectly the warning we are always given about writing in first person - it has the advantage of letting the reader directly into the mind of the protagonist which allows us to examine thoughts, feelings and motives more specifically, but it means if a reader dislikes the character there’s a danger they’ll lose interest. Ten years ago, James Owens was convicted of a murder he couldn’t remember committing. Now, finally released from the mental institution where he’s served his time, he is placed under house arrest in the sprawling family home he has inherited from his father. Disgraced 'Southern Charm' Alum Thomas Ravenel Fuming Over Craig Conover And Shep Rose's Kathryn Dennis Compliments at BravoCon 2023: "Total Losers" The characters were kind of flat to me. I think part of my opinion on them is tainted by the fact that I just finished another thriller, The Whisper Man. In that one, the characters are much more dynamic and the relationships are much more interesting. Despite some twisting and turning, the relationships here are plain vanilla and a bit predictable.

THE SILENT PATIENT is a deep, dark tale of murder, love and revenge. This is a contemporary story steeped in a deliciously gothic tone. At the beginning of the book, we have a vicious murder, a frightening asylum setting for the criminally insane, and a suspect who refuses to speak. When Theo steps in to save the day as psychotherapist to the silent Alice, well….you are in for a twisted treat, so I can’t divulge anymore! Nathan and Rachel are invited to a house warming party at the newly renovated property in Old Salisbury Road. Rachel is surprised to learn that Luc and his wife Ophelia are the new owners. Alongside the series announcement, Steve Carell was cast. [2] Domhnall Gleeson, Linda Emond, Laura Niemi, and Andrew Leeds were cast in January 2022. [5] [6] In February 2022, Alex Rich and David Alan Grier were cast in recurring roles. [7] [8] Filming [ edit ] In this book the bad guy who is a heartless murderer- who kills for money- starts off with a very vague description from the author. BUT curiously as the book progresses his skin seems to be getting darker and darker- his features more angular and look at this all his assistants seem to be getting more and more vowels in their names.Like Faroud, and Mamoud and God knows what else. And all of a sudden they're aren't just blue meanie guns for hire- NOW they are all called Terrorists. and what d'ya think? Their weapon of choice is CHEMICAL WARFARE. What kind of stereotyping bullshit is this???God knows I am no bleeding heart but lemme tell you this guy is pulling some very chintzy heart strings to pull this plot together. Now we have heartless Muslim Terrorists threatening this lovely well meaning American Hospital. The youngest of three children of the Miller family. The Millers had two other children: Margaret Frary Miller (1879–1950), called Madge, who was eleven years Agatha's senior, and Louis Montant Miller (1880–1929), called Monty, ten years older than Agatha. The novel is narrated by Alicia's psychotherapist Theo Faber, He is determined to " fix Alicia". I was so invested in learning what the circumstances of Alicia's silence was and had to find out if Theo could save her. Would she ever speak again? READ IT NOW to find out! Just because The Silent Patient has a "twist" that doesn't mean it should be labelled as being a psychological thriller. There is little to no suspense, the mystery is laughable, the tension largely MIA. The psychology in this one is...well, the depiction of psychiatrist and psychotherapists is at best, laughable, at worst, ignorant.
