he loved to create problems for him and shannon like the river out of thin air. one of the dumbest characters i've read about in a while. it was fun laughing at him sometimes though so at least there's that. Do I recommend this book? Absolutely YES. If you like teenager dramas and cute love stories, this book is for you but be careful and read the TWs first! The meaner ones labelled me a tranny, suggesting that the reason I was such a frigit was because I had boy parts under my skirt. There wasn’t much of Shannon being carefree but she was adorable asf when she was in her element. Them playing GTA was the most I’ve seen her let go and gahhhh I loved every second of it 🤭💗🫂
The hero: Johnny, is a talented rugby player, the gold boy of the school. He’s hard working, self-confident and mature. He had to go through surgery after getting injured in a game, but he is determined to be in perfect condition to play with the Ireland team. The only thing I will say is that this book has a certain style of writing that doesn’t fit everyone. But personally I felt like there’s something really effective in Chloe’s writing that makes me connect to the characters and their situations.

This story made my heart bleed. I’m so glad this was as long as it was. I wanted to spend every waking moment in this world, with Shannon and Johnny. 🥹 This boy is a jewel. I only had one issue with him: he hits the boyfriends of the girls that bully Shannon. I’m not saying that he should hit the girls or that they should get away unpunished, but I don’t agree with hitting the boyfriends as solution. Besides, it’s proven several times that it doesn’t work. Striving to maintain balance, and on the crest of the International Summer Campaign, Johnny needs to keep his head in the game. He needs to stay focused, and cannot afford to let distractions get in the way of the bigger picture. Yet I believe this happens. In real life. Just read the newspapers when some cruel people committed atrocities on teenagers. Or when big bullies at school made life a living hell for some other students. When the synopsis comes with words like “tortured “ “demons and evil men” they are not kidding! If you are sensitive to such topics stay far far away from these books! im also so glad that Shannon calls Johnny out when he makes mistakes instead of just “giving in” just because, you know, he’s hot. ugh *cue eyeroll*. i’ve seen this trend in soo many NA books that it’s annoying as hell but thank god Shannon ain’t one of those weak and doormat/horny heroines.

There were so many times he had me howling bc of his one liners 😭 he’s iconic, it’s true. I tried squinting, seeing if that made my eyes look any more human, and made a conscious effort to thin my swollen lips by pulling them into my mouth.Johnny is the most precious guy ever. What I love the most about him is that when he feels really solid about what he wants, he goes after it with his all. But what came out of his all or nothing attitude towards life hurttttttt ❤️🩹❤️🩹 I w-want to d-die,” she continued to cry, choking hard on her tears. “I w-want to n-not be h-here anymore.” Me, too. wellll most of the drama here is the push and pull from both MCs, it can get frustrating, not gonna lie, but it’s definitely worth it.
