About this deal

The sonic screwdriver was often used to scan objects, often to gather information about them or look for technology. The Lock Code can be erased and locking can be disabled, by pressing the button quickly five times whilst the Sonic is unlocked. The authentic flicking action allows the Sonic to be used in exactly the same way the Doctor uses it. The sonic screwdriver could amplify sound waves to become hypersonic from various audio devices, including radios, speakers and, once, a pipe organ.

TV: The Night of the Doctor) It could perform maintenance on the TARDIS console, ( TV: Doctor Who) hack into computers, ( AUDIO: The Harvest) melt ice ( AUDIO: The Magic Mousetrap) and briefly disable electron bombs. This Sonic Screwdriver is not only a remote control, but is a reproduction of the Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver, fabricated from die cast metal, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and soft-touch, leather-effect, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The Sonic may be extended either by gripping the knurled grey parts of the upper cage and pulling it away from the handle, or by carefully flicking it. As part of his role of being a Doctor was to use a sonic screwdriver, the Doctor accepted the TARDIS's gift ( TV: Hell Bent) though he would continue to occasionally use the sunglasses as well. TV: Hell Bent) He continued to use his sonic sunglasses as well, thus giving him two choices of sonic instruments.Features included projecting sound waves to lock or unlock doors, frying circuitry, hacking, disabling, and activating technology. Some trainee companions seem to be natural time lords and fair well without the psychic interface and can zap TVs and iPod docks into silence with it straight away, but for most trainees, about ten minutes’ practice is required to get the hang of the different movement gestures. TV: The Doctor Dances, COMIC: Operation Lock-up) It could increase the power of devices, such as torches.

TV: Frontier in Space) However, the Doctor had a spare aboard the TARDIS, which he made use of in the Dalek base on Spiridon. The sonic screwdriver affected creatures in sometimes lethal ways, as it could destroy a Dalek's brain when placed against the casing's head ( PROSE: War of the Daleks) and was once used to decapitate the King of Beasts. The Sonic Screwdriver will retain the remote control codes it has learned even if it is left with no batteries in it for a long period.TV: Day of the Moon, Closing Time, The Time of the Doctor) By at least the time of the Doctor's thirteenth regeneration, it had a voice-activation feature, which the Doctor forgot about when he needed it.

Since this Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver appeared at the end of series 9, we have been inundated by fan requests to produce a toy replica as part of our toy range. Remember that you have three memory banks, so in total you have six rotation gestures (three each of clockwise and anticlockwise) to record codes on to.

As rivets were not needed in the Sonic Screwdriver URC design, to keep manufacturing costs down, fake brass rivet features were incorporated into the lower cage moulding. River Song told the Fourth Doctor that, though his current screwdriver was mostly just a screwdriver, he would later "go a bit crazy with the optional upgrades". Breaking the security lockdown in a Vess facility with the help of the Fourth Doctor's sonic screwdriver. Like any sensitive instrument, it takes a bit of practice to master the Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver. TV: The Night of the Doctor) The Eighth Doctor's other choice of a diode-tipped model would become the standard for his later incarnations.

This model, identified as the "Mark 5" by the Eighth Doctor, ( PROSE: Alien Bodies) looked similar to the screwdriver used up until his fifth incarnation: it was silver with a brass trim ring in the lower grip and a handle that resembled that of the previous sonic screwdrivers', now with a flat base. Used to help with rewiring the TARDIS; he told Lilly it was because the light in his "wardrobe" wasn't working, claiming it was the reason he dressed as he did. AUDIO: The Ultimate Adventure) He once attempted to use it to free the American Envoy from the Dalek laser wall, but this failed. Remember that you have three memory banks, so in total you have 12 tap gestures to record codes on to. Apart from being bigger than the Tenth Doctor’s one, it differs from the previous model in shape, power, its distinctive glowing green tip and extending clasps.

The sonic screwdriver could create sparks or flames to light candles ( TV: The Girl in the Fireplace) or ignite flammable gasses. Accompanied by a yellow light on the collar of his sonic screwdriver and the Doctor singing a Venusian lullaby, it hypnotised the aggressive Aggedor into calmness. The Wand Company have created this prop replica Universal Remote Control version specially for Earth use. In Practice Mode, each time a gesture is performed, the Sonic will say which gesture it thinks has been done. It was able to activate, disable or destroy electronic devices, including lifts, ( TV: Rose, World War Three) computers, ( TV: The End of the World, etc.
