About this deal

It is made from a secret blend of 40 botanicals, including vanilla, orange peels, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon alongside a blend of artemisia in a traditional process (boiling, maceration and distillation), relatively unchanged since 1885. A classic Italian liqueur made with a wide (though secret) selection of herbs and spices, Amaro Montenegro is bittersweet and makes for a fantastic after-dinner tipple. After this, twelve mother essences are taken and synthesized into six tasting notes: bitter and herbaceous, spicy and floral, chocolate and caramel, fresh and balsamic, vanilla and red fruits, and warm and tropical. Amaro Montenegro was born in Bologna in 1885 from the rebel genius of the young Stanislao Cobianchi in homage to Princess Elena of Montenegro, future Queen of Italy. Amaro Montenegro Liqueur is made from a blend of over 40 botanicals from around the globe giving it a rich flavour.

The name 'Montenegro' is a homage to the second queen of Italy, Princess Elena Petrović-Njegoš of Montenegro, on occasion of her marriage in 1896 to Victor Emmanuel III, the Italian sovereign at the time.
