About this deal

In addition to its sleek look, veteran APC40 users will immediately notice the enhancements that include an RGB clip-launching grid, reinforced fader design, revised knob lay out, and much more. The APC40 MKII has been intelligently redesigned to be the premiere Ableton Live performance controller.

This means noticeably less banking, and more visibility into the Session, and I would have liked to see this on the APC40 as well, even if it required a larger surface area. The Apc 40 Mk2 from Akai is an incredibly versatile midi controller and is a powerful tool when used in combination with Ableton Live.A dedicated tempo control knob joins the Tap Tempo and Nudge buttons, which should make mixing your Live set into a DJ set a little easier. Saving your mappings can be a problem as mappings are saved with an Ableton session, so if you start a new session you will need to re-map your controls again.

Reason+ is a creative bundle for music making that includes the Reason DAW and the Reason Rack Plugin which can be used in any DAW (VST3/AU/AAX). Comprised of a dynamic interface, an advanced pattern generator, and onboard effects, Twist lets you create serious sounds using simple controls. Connecting the Akai Apc 40 Mk2 with Ableton Live is pretty simple, and when the two are linked you'll be able to adjust the software's parameters from your midi controller.Alongside the launch of the APC40 MkII, Akai have extended their Ableton controller range with the APC Mini and APC Key 25 (the original APC40 and 20 are also still available). The APC40 Mk2 feels like a natural evolution of the original model, bringing it up to date smoothly. Today, us mere mortals can go online to Remotify and use their dead simple, drag and drop script creator. The Akai APC40 MKII is the reincarnation of the game-changing APC 40, which revolutionized the way DJs and musicians used the Ableton Live software for live performance and production. This model is very clear in it’s purpose, and that’s rather refreshing in a market so often crowded with ’Swiss Army Knife’ products.

The Apc 40 Mk2 is equipped with a standard midi remote script in Ableton Live, so you just need to connect it (see instructions below) to get it working. Also included are a range of edgy FX to spice up your productions, detailed synth samples, plus a selection of scintillating musical loops custom built for Urban productions. The Apc 40 Mk2 offers a complimentary copy of Ableton Live Lite, but its features are limited in comparison to Ableton Live Standard or Suite. When APC40 mkII is plugged into your computer, its hardware controls correspond 1 to 1 with Ableton Live's interface-no additional configuring is required.

I’m happy to say that these have almost all been addressed in this new version without losing any of the essence of what made the MkI so usable. The designers at Akai haven’t stopped at tweaking the APC’s form–factor and layout, they’ve also looked at integrating it a little further into the Live experience. Also included is the Puremagnetik Effect Racks, a collection of over 200 sophisticated audio effects engineered for instant sound sculpting. As before, cursor buttons move the grid around the Session View in single row/column steps, or whole banks with the Shift key. That’s quite a step up from the original, which required a fairly hefty wall-wart at all times, and makes the Mk2 a much more portable solution.

Constructed from high-quality polycarbonate material, our cover provides exceptional durability, ensuring the longevity of your APC40 MK2. PC: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8; multicore processor; 2 GB RAM; Windows compatible sound card (ASIO driver support recommended), QuickTime recommended. However, the MkII faces stiffer competition than its predecessor, in particular from Push and the Novation Launchpad Range.APC40 mkII features a 5x8 RGB clip-launching grid that’s built for dexterous exploration: launch clips and create or perform your song from the ground up using 40 responsive triggers. Ableton Live Lite enables musicians and producers to spontaneously compose, record, remix, improvise, and edit musical ideas in a fluid audio/MIDI environment. The Akai APC40 MKII improves on almost every aspect of the APC40 MKI, packing everything you need for next level Ableton performances into a controller you can fit in your backpack. Speaking of portability, the Mk2 is actually quite a bit smaller than the original, whilst, as it loses the rather superfluous ‘wings’ of the earlier model, there is generally more space for the controls. The User button switches the pots to generic MIDI controllers, allowing you to use Live’s MIDI Map mode to take control of any parameter.
