About this deal

It would be an understatement to say Steven Winkelman is obsessed with mobile technology. Since joining PCMag as a mobile analyst in 2019, he’s reviewed over 100 phones and tablets. Before that he covered mobile and wearable tech as a staff writer at Digital Trends. Those looking to get any work done may run into a bigger issue than app compatibility however, which is app availability. Android does not have nearly as well developed an app ecosystem for tablets as exists for iPads. Those looking to make a potential switch should make sure everything they need is on the other side before progressing. Performance is mostly adequate. The Tab P11 Pro undercuts several rival models available from Samsung by offering a weaker processor, the Snapdragon 730G, which is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

From a holistic perspective, much of the ‘spend’ in the manufacture of this table has gone towards one area: the screen. This investment has paid off, the panel on the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro is a joy to use and a step beyond what is available at lower price points. Lenovo Tab P11 Pro: camera In comparison, all tested devices range from 0.2 (minimum) to 636 (maximum) ms. » 75% of all devices are better. In everyday use, the display's quality is subjectively compelling for a tablet in this price range: Content is rich in contrast, and colors look vibrant. Objectively, the measurements taken with a spectrophotometer and the CalMAN software reveal a color reproduction that is too cool (7,966 K). Both grayscales as well as primary and mixed colors show average DeltaE deviations that differ strongly from the sRGB reference (target value of up to 3).For light work, the P11 Pro is more than adequate - it is a good writing companion in particular. It will work for spreadsheets in a pinch, and the G Suite of apps is well suited to collaborative work. More specialist or demanding users will be better suited by a laptop, even at the same price point. The image sharpness and details of the rear-facing lens are perfectly acceptable for a budget mid-range tablet when there's a lot of light. However, the base sharpness is relatively low in the 13 MP photos. Under defined artificial light, the photos taken by the Tab P11 Plus of our sharpness test chart also look a bit blurry, especially towards the picture's edges. However, the rear-facing camera is very good for scanning documents or text.

It includes a Snapdragon 730G processor, which sits in the middle of Qualcomm’s range. I feel the slavish need to reveal its benchmark scores – 544 and 1,784 in the Geekbench 5 tests, 41fps in the off-screen GFXBench Manhattan benchmark – but what actually matters is that this tablet never felt slow in use.

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro is the successor to the P11 Pro, and it's quite a lot more expensive. There are good reasons for that though as it has a bigger screen, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a larger battery. So if you want a step up, this is it. The obvious question when manufacturers offer these bundles of tablet, keyboard and magnetic stand is whether or not they can adequately replace a laptop, and – bar a few frustrations – the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro succeeds. Android automatically detects if a keyboard is attached and slips into Productivity mode, which is remarkably similar to Chrome OS. Your open apps appear as icons in the taskbar, and switching between them is as simple as a prod on the screen. As with any device, a tablet lives and dies by the quality of its display, but the question of use case is arguably more important than the ‘objective’ quality of the panel. This is certainly a display capable of hanging with the best from any metric. It is bright, sharp at 1600 x 2560, contrasty and color-accurate. The Wi-Fi module of the Tab P11 Plus supports the 802.11ac standard, which makes the Lenovo tablet dual-band capable, allowing it to use the 5 GHz band in addition to the 2.4 GHz frequency range. The reception quality is good in everyday use. We measured a data transfer rate of about 350 Mb/s with our Netgear Nighthawk AX12 reference router. Try as we could, across multiple days of use, it proved nigh-on impossible to kill. With mixed light to medium use we were able to coax around 10 hours of screen-on time from the device, which is impressive.

There’s also the matter of app availability. If your work is primarily done through the G Suite you’ll be fine, but Android is still not widely compatible with a host of essential apps in various industries. For writing on the go or for drawing work with the pleasant Lenovo pen, this will work in a pinch, but it works far better as a media player than a workhorse.

Input devices and handling - Lenovo tablet with FaceUnlock

It’s a solid tablet for entertainment and the occasional bit of work, and there’s certainly nothing to complain about with the suave cover and keyboard. In fact, the Tab P11 falls just short of a great tablet to recommend. Where things go a bit sideways is with performance that’s not to do with streaming content. The Tab P11 will struggle when gaming, and loading up multiple apps can sometimes bring it to a crawl or force a restart. That’s a shame as it really is a great all-rounder tablet to have, especially since the keyboard and stylus are so easy to use. This means that the measured response time is worse than the average of all tested devices (21.8 ms).

ProCase Keyboard Case for Lenovo Tab P11 11-inch Full HD

In our GPS test, the Lenovo tablet communicates with the GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS satellite systems, as well as with SBAS, but only with one band in each case. Our position can be determined successfully even indoors, but it takes quite a long time for the device to achieve a usable accuracy. The relatively poor signal-to-noise ratio, which was present outdoors as well, is worth noting. To put those numbers to the test, I decided to use the tablet as my dedicated work machine over the past week. Thanks to Productivity Mode and a cloud-based content management system, I paired a wireless keyboard to the Tab P11 Plus and was able to go about my daily work routine. Productivity Mode, like Samsung's DeX, transforms the tablet interface of Android into a desktop-like experience. The four Dolby Atmos-certified speakers of the Tab P11 Plus are distributed across the left and right sides of the tablet's case, thereby creating true stereo sound. However, the speaker array doesn't get very loud at 81 dB. The keyboard attaches via magnetic connectors at the bottom of the tablet, and directly interfaces this way – no fiddling around with Bluetooth connections or having to charge the keyboard separately. It also helps protect the tablet when not in use.

Communication and GNSS - Tab P11 Plus with Wi-Fi 5

The base model is available with Wi-Fi only, while a more expensive model is available with LTE via an included SIM tray. Memory and RAM configurations are standard, there are no options with either more storage or RAM. Lenovo Tab P11 Pro: design The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro is a strong challenger to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus. It offers a lovely display, strong speakers and a premium design at a price that undercuts the high-end competition. As a productivity machine however, it doesn’t make sense - Android for tablets, after many years of existence, is still not ready for prime time.
